Southern California Edison delivers power across the South Bay, and the Port of Long Beach anchors a load profile built on refrigerated warehousing, container handling and refining. Competitive supply exists, but only in two constrained forms: Direct Access, which is capped statewide and opens by lottery when capacity is released, and Community Choice Aggregation through the Clean Power Alliance. Neither is a supplier bid in the Texas sense. On SCE the largest recoverable cost is almost always time-of-use discipline — the on-peak window is narrow, expensive, and lands squarely on late-afternoon logistics operations that could shift.

Agriculture is not the dominant sector in this territory, where container port operations, cold storage, oil refining and heavy logistics carry most of the commercial load. That is an advantage worth using: a agriculture load is unfamiliar enough locally that it is routinely priced off generic assumptions rather than off your actual usage. A highly seasonal with weather dependency profile at 150,000-600,000 kWh/month is the specific thing we take to market, and the contract structure follows from it: fixed, indexed, or block-and-index, sized to your actual baseload rather than to a nameplate figure.
